About Us

Hello, my name is Diane Cardoza, owner of Anchor Attire.

I was taught to knit at the age of 10 by my Elementary School teacher. It is my belief that God gives everyone a gift in life. It is up to you to find that gift and take it to places you never dreamed you could go!  I took that dream and years later, I was lucky enough to be able to own and operate my own yarn shop for 10 years. I am now taking that gift in a different direction and hopefully sharing it with all of you!

Anchor Attire is in dedication to my dad, Alvin Cardoza. We lost Alvin a few years ago at the age of 92 to Pancreatic Cancer. Alvin was raised in Kauai and joined the Navy when Pearl Harbor was attacked.  Once he finished his term in the Navy, he took on several jobs until he found the job of his dreams.  He became a Dredgerman Operator for Dutra Construction Company. His happy place was always on the river or in the ocean. During one of his dredging jobs in the Oakland Estuary, Alvin pulled up a huge anchor from a sunken ship.  He unloaded the anchor from the dredge bucket onto one of Dutra's flatbed trucks and to mom’s disapproval had it driven home.  Once it got to the house, it was somehow pushed off the truck and where it landed in the front yard is where it sits today!   That anchor was Alvin’s pride and joy. Starting Anchor Attire has given me that same pride and joy!

I want to thank you for your support as I continue to honor my father through our work at Anchor Attire.
